Getting active and moving more is the perfect medicine for your body and mind. No matter your age we should all be aiming to be active every day, some is good, more is better.

Building regular activity in your daily life can be challenging, it doesn’t matter what the activity is, if you can find something you enjoy you will soon notice the benefits to your health and wellbeing.

Any form of movement is good for health and wellbeing such as walking, swimming, running, or cycling. There is lots of support in Somerset available to help you find an activity you enjoy whether that’s a walk outside in nature, finding a local sports team, cycling to work or school or going to your local leisure centre, there is lots to get you moving more.

There are lots of benefits to moving more including:

  • Improved mental health and mood
  • Improved muscle tone, core strength and balance
  • Helps you to feel stronger and reduces the risk of falls
  • It is essential for helping manage a healthier weight
