Introduction

Somerset Libraries have a range of free health services to support your health including:

  • Loanable Blood Pressure Monitors
  • Loanable Activity Tracker Watches (certain libraries)
  • Loanable iPads preloaded with apps to support physical and mental health
  • Technology support to enable you to use online health tools
  • Loanable iPads preloaded with the ‘Seeing AI’ app to support those with visual impairments and low-level dementia to continue living independently
  • Stand-on health monitors to record BMI, height, weight and blood pressure (certain libraries)
  • Baby weighing scales (certain libraries)
  • Reliable health stock on a huge range of health needs including illnesses, healthy living, exercise and diet
  • Staff trained in supporting you to find reliable health information
  • Specialised curated book collections on mental health (adults, teenagers and children), dementia, the menopause, death and grieving and neurodiversity
  • Varied programmes of health events and activities including low level exercise classes, health coach appointments, health visitor appointments, journaling for wellbeing and more
  • Interactive projectors designed to support and stimulate those with dementia, learning disabilities and autism
  • Home Library Service for those unable to leave their homes

To access these services, join your library for free, you can do it in person at your local library or visit LibrariesWest website.
